I’ve been saying this for a year now

Over a Crunchgear they posted a poll showing that people consumers are likely going to skip the HD physical format and go straight to digitally delivered content. This doesn’t really surprise me much. I knew Blu Ray would win the format war a year before HD threw in the towel. It was very simple to forsee really. First, Sony included the new hardware player into their latest gaming system. The logical progression for consumers purchasing a PS3 was to buy Blu Ray discs. The second nail in the coffin of the HD DVD format was the partnerships with Disney. Kids love Disney. Parents want to buy their kids Disney movies. I think you get the picture. Let’s not forget that it’s not just Disney, but the pantheon of other media outlets merged into the media juggernaut. Combine this with a gaming station and you have the formula for instant win. Service Nightmare

I have a problem.

In August of 2007, I started renting a voice server from Game Daemons. The price was right, and they even had a hosting site in my neck of the woods. Things were fine for a while. In October, I decided that I wanted to switch from a monthly payment plan to a four month payment plan. There was no easy way to do this through the website, so I ended up with a second account. I figured I would just cancel the first account and keep using the second. Over the course of the holidays, I kept receiving overdue invoices which didn’t matter since I had another account…until the server stopped working. Somehow the accounts got confused, but after a little puzzlement Game Daemons was able to correct the situation, or so I thought. Read the rest of this entry »

Gamers are people too

I’ve made it clear that I’m a WoW head. I enjoy the game but more so because of the group of fellas that I game with. We’re a pretty laid back group, the majority are married with kids and so we all realize family comes first. I suppose it’s not too different from “bowling night” or “meeting the guys at the bar” with the exception that we’re home where our spouses can typically roust us for that last minute “honey do.”

Recently once of the guys (we shall use his handle Beet) logged on to find the majority of his equipment and inventory missing from several of his toons. Of course the first thought was that his account was hacked so immediately Beet submits an in-game GM request. Beet gives the GM the particulars after close to an hour of waiting.
