Friday, I’m in Love
I’ve felt very remiss that my first music post wasn’t about one of my favorite bands. It’s not a big name band but the music is exactly my speed. No More Kings released their sophmore album “And the Flying Boombox” back in May. I haven’t picked up the album yet mainly because it’s hard to find the disc locally and I still prefer having physical media, no matter how much extra content Apple promises in their LP format.

The Eclectic Hour
I have such varied musical tastes. Generally I gravitate towards rock but most anything with a good beat will draw me. Lately I’ve been listening to Muse and they are rapidly becoming one of my favorite bands. While the music maintains a thematic sound from the beginning of an album to the end, there is a broad range of stylistic differences in each song. Some have a simple rock ballad feel while others merge grinding guitar riffs with sweeping electric orchestras. Pieces like Knights of Cydonia conjure images of a grand epic in which I envision a Leiji Matsumoto space opera. Quite simply they fit just about any mood I’m in and generally elevate me out of any funk I might be in. Which isn’t to say this is all I’ve been listening to. Read the rest of this entry »
