Once More Into the Breach

Toy RobotI have been a little quiet of late. Mainly this has been due to some moonlighting on a little web work. I’m fairly exhausted but hope to have that all cleared up soon. In the meantime, dear friends, I’m making a concerted effort to Tweet more; so if you haven’t, do please give me a follow. It would make me so so happy, and hopefully I will be able to share some useful news there for you! If not useful I will try my best to be entertaining, and failing that I will take upon myself the burden of your derision.
In other news I have recently gotten a Motorola Droid and if my wife were not preoccupied with her own Android-delving she might find time to be jealous of my new love. Granted she’s getting far more use from hers, but I’m trying to maintain some pretense of decorum and professionalism. I have not installed the lightsaber app (my wife has), but I confess to a little furdiburb virtual pet who spends all his waking hours pooping. Unlike some of my compatriots, I LOVE to be connected and have communication constantly at my fingertips and the droid has opened brand new vistas of sharing. I will of course avoid the tweeting from the toilet, or at least I will avoid telling you where I’m tweeting. My favorite apps so far have been Aldiko which is a fantastic ePub reader which puts anything I used previously for e-reading software to shame. Can you dim the screen while reading with a simple gesture? I can. Though it is a free app there is a paid upgrade which I am certainly going to pay for. Good things deserve to be supported, and at $5 it’s hardly taxing. The slacker app has given me a fair amount of guilt. I have been listening to my stations to the exclusion of my iPod nano. I don’t know that the Droid will replace my nano as it did my faithful Palm T|X, but I feel like I’ve been neglecting my existing music library. The draw for me is the music discovery. Since we canceled our XM subscription, I have felt my listening habits stagnate greatly as generally I’m only listening at work or in the car. Slacker has changed that. I now find myself choosing slacker a la droid over my 8gb of portable home library (we have much more than 8 but that’s my nano capacity). Granted I may only be able to listen to my Macross soundtracks on the nano, but a search on Yoko Kanno did yield Hikaru Utada and John Williams so I suppose there is hope. The latest addition to my bevy of nerd tools was to add wordpress for android. I am in fact using the droid to finish this post. Aren’t you impressed? No?

Well who wanted your opinion anyway?
